Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt: A time I had an encounter with a homeless guy was when I was 10. I directly encountered him and I gave him money. I remember thinking in my head about how someone would become homeless. I thought maybe it's not too late for him to get a job. I felt bad for him because he looked like he was in a very bad condition. He was all dirty, his clothes were old and ripped, his shoes were broken. In my head i would think what do they do when it gets cold because his clothes that he had didn't look like they can warm him up. Summary: Today in class we read a new story and answered questions along with it. Reflection; Today in class i learned about the way Mr. Shiftlet is in the story we are reading.

Write about what you are thankful for

Prompt: I'm thankful for my mom because without her I would not be able to have an education or a shelter to keep us warm, and food so that we don't starve. I'm thankful for my friends because they are always there for me when I need them some most than others. I'm thankful for my teachers because they spent their time trying to teach us students so that we can learn. I'm thankful for my siblings because I could not imagine myself as an only child how boring it could be. I need my siblings because they bring me joy and laughter even if they are a bit annoying.  Summary: Today in class I worked on new vocabulary and did exercises 3 and 4. Reflection: Today I learned the definitions of the new vocabulary we worked on.

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt: A time in life when a piece of information changed my understanding of someone was when people kept telling me that a girl I was friends with was saying very bad stuff about me. When I heard the news I was shocked because I didn't think that the girl was the type to talk bad about someone. After she found out that I knew she tried to apologize to me. When I told her that I couldn't forgive her because what she did was wrong she just stormed away. After that she kept talking about me to people but I ignored her because I knew it wasn't worth my time as I was focused in school.  Summary: Today in class we took a pop quiz on "a rose for Emily." Reflection: Today in class I learned that I got a 100 on my pop quiz about "a rose for Emily."

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Prompt: A time when I heard really shocking news was when they told me that some girl that I knew was getting influenced by the wrong people. It stood out to me because I remember telling her not to get influenced by the people and that she should be better than them. When people heard about it they were shocked because they never thought that she was the type to get influenced easily. It revealed that the girl did all those bad decisions so that she would fit in and not made fun of. It reveals that humans would do anything to be proven that they aren't weak, or dumb, or easy to manipulate.  Summary: Today in class we finished reading " A Rose for Emily" and worked on a worksheet.  Reflection: Today in class I learned the ending about the story of "A Rose for Emily."

Miss Emily’s house once represented pride and tradition, but over time it became a symbol of decay and isolation. Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time.

Prompt: Something that holds deep memories for me would be my grandma's home. This place has positive  memories for me. I lived in my grandma's house until the age of 5 but the memories that i created there are very special to me. Now that i am older I have become more fond of my second grandma's house. As I have also made very special memories there. With my younger cousins that i have.  Summary: Today in class we read a story called "A rose for Emily."  Reflection: Today in class I learned what the house of Ms Emily symbolized in the story called "A rose for Emily."

Think about the vocabulary words from Lesson Two. Write about a time you saw or heard one of these words outside of the classroom — maybe in a movie, song, social media post, or book. Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better.

Prompt: A time i heard one of the words outside my classroom would be when i was reading a book. The word was arable. I read it in a book for US History. When the word was mentioned we were talking about how the US took land away from Mexico. The context helped me understand a little the word because of the way that it was being used. Now that I know what the words mean I would not have any trouble when seeing it again in the future.  Summary: Today in class we worked on Exercise 1 and 4 about the new vocabulary words.  Reflection: Today in class i learned about new vocabulary and their definition.

Thinking about “The Rockpile,” which parent or guardian in your life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline? Explain how their approach to discipline has influenced you or shaped your behavior.

Prompt: For me my mom has always been the most strict when it comes to discipline. When i used to behave badly she would give me a consequence and sometimes whoop me. I was a very bad kid back then. Now I don't behave badly anymore because i was able to learn from when i was a child. But on some occasions i do get a lesson because i don't behave well.   Summary: Today in class we took a test over the story we have been reading called the Rockpile.  Reflection: Today in class i learned about how Gabriel favors Roy over john in the Rockpile.

Thinking about "The Rockpile," what is something your parents forbade you from doing when you were growing up? Explain what it was and why they might have set that rule.

Prompt: When i was a child my mom always told me not to go to my neighbors house. They set that rule because my neighbors house was a very old and creepy house. They had lion statues in the front and you would hear weird sounds coming from the house sometimes. When I was little i was scared of it and would have nightmares about the house eating me. My friends would call me a scary cat because they thought that i was just over dramatic but then we heard a noise come from the house and we all ran away.  Summary: Today in class we read a short story called "The Rockpile." Reflection:  Today in class i learned what the rockpile symbolized in the story we read.
