Think about a moment when your understanding of your family changed as you got older. How did that shift impact your perspective, and how does that connect to Chris’s realization about his parents in Chapter 11?

Prompt: There was a point as i got older when I started to see my family more realistically, they had their flaws. That shift didn't make me love them less, but it did change how I understood their choices and the way our family works. This connects to Chris in chapter 11 because he also hast that moment where the image he had of his parents suddenly breaks, and he sees the hidden conflicts and mistakes that shaped his childhood. Just like my perspective changed as I learned more.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 11 of "into the wild" and worked on 2 worksheets.  Reflection: Today in class I learned about the rules or values or lessons my classmates had growing up.

Reflect on your reading of Into the Wild chapters 1–10. Which chapter stood out to you the most, and why? In your response, explain what specifically made this chapter meaningful, interesting, or impactful. You may consider elements such as McCandless’s actions, a key event, a theme, or Krakauer’s storytelling.

Prompt: The chapter that stood out to me would have to be chapter 2. I say this because it surprised me how we were barely on chapter 2 and McCandless was already dead. It was interesting to me because in my head when I read that he was dead I thought "what's going to happen in the other chapters now that his dead." The chapter revealed to me how unprepared McCandless was and the risk he took going into the wild with the essential gear needed for a hike that is going to take months.  Summary: Today in class we took a test on our reading about chapter 1-10 of the book "into the wild."  Reflection: Today in class I learned that my test was 40 questions.

Chris McCandless rejects a traditional path of success and instead defines success on his own terms through freedom, experience, and personal meaning. Reflect on what success means to you at your current stage in life. In the response, explain how success is currently defined (grades, college acceptance, achievements, happiness, etc.) and where those ideas come from. Then, consider whether that definition truly reflects personal values or if it is shaped by expectations from family, school, or society.

Prompt: In my life right now, success would be passing my class and grade because then I would know that I did the best I could to continue forward. My ideas come from the fact that I to prove to myself that I am capable of doing things that require hard work and dedication to acquire. My success is shaped from my mother. I want to be able to graduate and make me and my mother proud as I would be a 1 generation graduate in my family. I want to do it because my mother's dreams were cut from her at a very young age and I to show her that her children will be able to take good care for her like she did for us.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 9 and 10 of the books "into the wild" and wrote what should be researched and how we connect to the book.  Reflection: Today in class I learned about the disappearance of Ruess.

Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt: A time I chose to be by myself would be when I lost my uncle last year, I didn't want people to worry about me so much and I wanted to be lone during that time. I cut people off because I thought it was the best choice to do. I don't think I would ever do it again. Because I thought that it was helping me separating from people but in reality, I was hurting even more. Now I don't do that anymore and i love when I know I'm being cared for and people worry about me.  Summary: Today in class we created question on chapter 8 for "into the wild." Reflection: Today in class I learned about my classmate's question for the chapter 8 of the book "into the wild."

For most of you, yesterday you took the SAT. If you did not, you will take it before you leave high school. What is your desired SAT score? Identify your top three colleges and explain why each school appeals to you

Prompt: The score I most desire to get on the SAT would be a 1300 or more. My top three colleges would be Emory University, Oglethorpe university, and Georgia State University. The reason why this schools appeal to me would be because Emory is my dream school and I want to enter the health industry as I want to become a cardio surgeon and Emory is known for their medical programs. Oglethorpe is my second choice because I would also love to study my major their and if there was a situation where I didn’t get into Emory I heard if you go to Oglethorpe they could transfer you to Emory. UGA is my third choice because if my plan doesn’t work for the first two I would like to go to UGA.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 7 of “into the wild” and did a worksheet of it.  Reflection: Today in class I learned about how McCandless after arriving in Alaska he sends a postcard telling his friends it is the last time they will hear from him.

Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Explain how the time change affects your mood, productivity, or daily habits.

Prompt: After daylight saving happens I find it difficult to adjust because since the time went forward I lose hours of sleep. Because of that throughout the day I feel unmotivated, sleepy, and I am very different than what I normally am. My mood always goes from happy and energetic to sad and exhausted all the time. I feel less productive because of my tiredness I believe that I did bad on things. I miss out on some of my daily habits because of my moods when I come from school I always go to sleep when before I would eat do work clean and walk my dogs.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 6 and wrote 3 facts we saw and 2 interesting thing we saw and a question the book doesn’t answer.  Reflection: Today in class I learned about how McCandless got arrested after jumping on a train.

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt: My first impression of him would be that he was dumb for not bring the essentials items when hiking all the way to Alaska. I would say no because he entered a national thinking it would be the same as in the magazines. Instead, he was unprepared barely any food didn't have the proper attire and his backpack which he carried was very small for a trip that would take months. He also didn't know the rules of what to do when encountering a bear. He ignored the warnings that Gallien gave him about the wild. He also didn't have a map to guide where he was heading which caused him to get lost.  Summary: Today in class we read a book called "into the wild" about a man who died while trying to hike. Reflection: Today in class I learned about to take when going on a thru-hike.
