After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?
Prompt: The masks in the short film represent the struggle of people when they try to fit in somewhere where they might not. A moment from the film that stood out to me was when the girl had a white or light pink mask on and she took it off to reveal a purple one and then she goes up to a group of kids with also purple masks on. This stood out to me because it represents how some people change many times just to fit in with others. I want my mask to reveal that I am proud to be who I am and that I am someone who works hard and never gives up. So I don't have to change to fit in.
Summary: Today in class we went over what our final will be and finished our masks.
Reflection: Today in class I learned what we need to do for our final.
